enrichments 4Kung Fu:

Pre-School Kung Fu is an introductory course to the martial arts using positive reinforcement. Classes will stress a non-violernt lifestyle, so important to today’s young people. Classes include kicking and blocking drills, and other techniques promoting strength, balance, and hand-eye and foot-eye coordination. Students will gain confidence, flexibility and discipline from the class.  Taught by an instructor from Steve DeMasco Shaolin Studios.

danceDance:

The American Ballet Theatre National Dance Curriculum Guidelines for Dancers outline the role of the teacher for preschool children as:

“The dance teacher’s main task is to make class fun and keep things simple.  Encourage children to explore new ways to move their bodies. Be sure to share in the fun, keeping in mind that the primary reason children participate in dance is to enjoy themselves, improve skills and be with friends.”

Part of each class is dedicated to creative movement and song; their favorite may be the “Princess Song” or “The Butterfly Dance.” Every pre-ballet/tap and ballet/tap program uses singing and movement as a device to enhance interaction between dancers, music, voice and movement, in addition to it being fun and something special and consistent that is part of their experience. Taught by a dance teacher from Connecticut Dance.
