This class will explore the role of magic in Judaism from the ancient period through contemporary life. We will strive to define “magic” and will analyze the relationship between magic and religion as we learn how Jews have experimented with magical resources such as incantation spells, amulets and tarot cards. We will also examine gender as it relates to magic over the course of history. Please see weekly email for zoom link.
