Join with Rabbi Schultz for a four part course exploring eras in Jewish history when Jews really disagreed one another (I know, when do Jews ever agree with one another?). What were the sources of their disagreements? What were their various points of view? How did this in-fighting impact the greater Jewish narrative? Often these disagreements were the result of events taking place in the world around them. We will examine four unique eras in Jewish history – The 2nd Temple period (Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, Zealots), 9th century (Karaites, Rabbinical Judaism), 18th century (Chasidim, Mitnagdim), 19th century (Formation of Reform and Modern Orthodox Judaism). We hope you will join us for this journey through Jewish history – arguing optional!
