Based on the Jewish tradition of women’s New Moon celebrations, Rosh Chodesh offers adolescent girls the opportunity to gather and bond with each other on a monthly basis to learn, laugh and grow as they explore the challenges and joys of their lives while sharing their thoughts and experiences of growing up Jewish and female in America. In a safe and supported space, with a trained facilitator, girls discuss the themes of self-esteem, peer pressure, body image, stress, relationships, female empowerment while discovering and utilizing their authentic voice. All of these themes are brought to life by engaging in activities such as crafts, acting, writing, ritual and leadership. You can learn more about this program at www.movingtraditions.org/programs/rosh-hodesh. Groups journey together from middle through high school graduation and develop lifelong bonds and connections.
If you have a middle school or high school female-identifying student who would be interested in this opportunity, please contact Rabbi Sarah Marion, smarion@cbibpt.org or Susan Walden, swalden@cbibpt.org to learn more.
