BIFTY (B’nai Israel Federation of Temple Youth) is our youth group, open to everyone in grades 9-12. BIFTY holds monthly programs on Thursday nights throughout the year. Some of our favorite events include Minute to Win It, holiday parties, and ice skating. BIFTY also organizes social action events, such as cooking for our local soup kitchen and donating used Halloween costumes for children to use in Israel during Purim. BIFTY creates educational and Jewish programs, such as our Israel trivia night, and conversations with LGBTQ members of our community. Our annual Yom Kippur food drive during High Holy Day services has generated tons of donations to Operation Hope and the Salem Lutheran Food Pantry. College
The College Outreach Committee
We want to keep our congregants’ college-age children connected to synagogue life, even when they are away at school. They will receive our monthly Bulletin and gift packages throughout the year. Interested college students and high school seniors getting ready for college life can sign up to be part of the College Outreach Committee. Parents can sign up their kid to receive students care packages that include small gifts and letters from our rabbis to help students remain engaged with our congregation. For more information or to register your college student, email your child’s name and college mailing address to Liane May with the subject line “COLLEGE COMMITTEE.”
Campus Visits
We invite current college students to be a campus host for Congregation B’nai Israel high school students who may be visiting your school. Besides being a familiar face, you also can be a great source of insider information for anxious students and their families. If interested, just indicate on our online form below.
