LGBTQ+ / Kulanu

Are you Jewish and identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or queer? Congregation B’nai Israel will be your welcoming, spiritual home. Kulanu, which means “All of Us,” is our LGBTQ outreach group. The group consists of LGBTQ+ Jews of all ages and levels of spirituality. We welcome you, your partners (whether Jewish or of another faith tradition), friends, allies, parents, siblings, and our youth and teenagers. We recognize that everyone has their own story, and we look forward to hearing yours.

Kulanu offers a place to meet other people, like you, who want to connect or reconnect with their Jewishness and find a community home that welcomes them. This dynamic group is always open to new ideas and projects for the members to do and share together. We join together for Shabbat dinners, Jewish holiday celebrations, discussions, advocacy and education programs to bring LGBTQ+ issues to the larger community. This is an opportunity to get involved and take advantage of a host of opportunities that are available with the support of the clergy and Congregation. It is also a chance to be positive role models for the younger gays and lesbians who are children of congregants.
