Welcome to BIFTY! BIFTY (B’nai Israel Federation of Temple Youth) is our youth group, open to everyone in grades 9-12. BIFTY holds programs on Thursday nights throughout the year. Some of our favorite events include Minute to Win It, Holiday parties, ice skating, and an annual trip to New York City. BIFTY also organizes social action events, such as cooking for our local soup kitchen and donating used Halloween costumes for children to use in Israel during Purim. BIFTY creates educational and Jewish programs as well, such as our Israel trivia night, conversations with LGBT members of our community, and an annual BIFTY Shabbat service for the community. Our annual Yom Kippur food drive has generated tons of donations to Operation Hope and the Salem Lutheran Food Pantry.
BIFTY is a member of NFTY-Northeast, which is comprised of more than 60 youth groups from Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York and Canada. NFTY-Northeast holds regional events once a month, including conclavettes, shul-ins and dances, all of which are held at host congregations throughout the region.
Institutes – five daylong events that combine educational, social and religious programming – are held three times a year at URJ Eisner Camp in the Great Barrington, Mass. All BIFTY members are eligible to attend regional events.
The BIFTY Board is an opportunity for BIFTY members to help plan and run BIFTY events, as well as represent the B’nai Israel Youth community at congregational events and programs.
